About the creation of the book:
The entire series is a four-hand work created by Stepan Romanyshyn and Diana Bychkova.
Stepan has a great sense of humor and he created plenty of pencil drawings with 250 ironic characters. But his picturesque and slightly sloppy style was not suitable for the book pages. So, Diana added some more accuracy to Stepan’s sketched-out animals to make them more human, arranged them on 20 large compositions, and carefully developed the small details. However, as a ‘black and white’ graphic artist, Diana doesn’t like colours. So, Stepan prepared the sketches in the next stage, and developed an artistic colour balance in each single picture and on the entire series. Being an oil painter, he could not shift to the watercolours and the subtlety of details. So, taking the black-and-white sketches, performed together, and Stepan’s coloured pieces as a sample, Diana re-drew all the pictures on watercolour paper and dressed them with meticulously reworked small details, which are seen in the final pictures.
A series of large-format watercolours containing about 250 ironic, well-developed characters in total, which were created to illustrate the popular easy riddles written in an amusing manner.
